TSO Season Finale includes Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Superstars Joshua Bell and Yuja Wang, and a 200th Birthday Party for Wagner and Verdi at Luminato!
May 14, 2013 – For Rhapsody in Blue (June 1 & 2), one of the most popular American concert works, conductor Bramwell Tovey will take to the piano to play Gershwin’s beloved jazz-infused Piano Concerto. Before leading the orchestra in Elgar's Enigma Variations– a series of charming musical sketches about the composer’s closest friends –Tovey, an eloquent host, will share some of the unsolved mysteries of the work’s “secret” contents.
The June 2nd performance is at the George Weston Recital Hall, Toronto Centre for the Arts and also features Bernstein’s “Overture” to Candide.

Music Director Peter Oundjian Extends Contract with Toronto Symphony Orchestra
Oundjian to lead the TSO through the 2016-17 Season
April 19, 2013 - The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) announced that the contract for Music Director Peter Oundjian has been extended through the end of the orchestra’s 95th concert season in 2016-17. Toronto-born Peter Oundjian is the 10th Music Director in the history of the TSO. With the contract extension, Mr. Oundjian will be the longest serving Music Director since Sir Andrew Davis (1975-1987), who now serves as Conductor Laureate.

April 10, 2013 - May begins with sensuality, humour, and passion with Maestro Stéphane Denève’s scintillating panorama of French classics for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra; the dream-like landscape of Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Poulenc’s playful Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra performed by French pianists Frank Braley and Eric Le Sage, and the imaginative world of Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique (May 1, 2, & 4).
