During a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Emily, a spunky 10-year-old, is drawn out of her seat and onto the stage by the strains of the beautiful music. But her bold behaviour brings her more than she has bargained for, as she soon finds herself face to face with the lord of darkness and noise, the terrible monster Cacopholous, in a battle to save music.

This series of podcasts will present concert listings, programme notes, and interviews with musicians and guest artists.

What is a podcast?

A podcast is a multimedia file distributed over the Internet for playback on portable music players (such as an iPod) and personal computers. The most common type of file used in audio podcasting is the mp3.

Subscribing to a podcast feed

Subscribing to a podcast allows you to automatically download each new programme as it becomes available and then listen to it at your convenience.

Podcatching software

The following is a list of some of the more popular programs for downloading and subscribing to podcasts:

iTunes (Windows, Mac OS)
Juice (Windows, Mac OS, Linux)
Doppler (Windows)

Just follow the instructions included with the software of your choice. You'll have the podcast automatically downloaded to your computer, ready to listen to at your convenience.
